You'll Never Know This, But You Are Deeply Loved.

Activists save Chinese dogs from cooking pot

Chinese animal lover consoles dog

A Chinese animal lover consoles a dog after a convoy of trucks carrying over 500 dogs to be sold for meat were stopped along a highway in Beijing on April 17, 2011. About 200 activists mobilised to stop the trucks, state-run media said Monday. (AFP)
How Can One So Lovely Be Unloved?
This picture and blurb was posted today by the American Free Press. Though brief and lacking much in detail, the photograph and the look on the dog's face speaks a thousand words.
It's a picture of a dog with little or no joy. That's a jagged pill to swallow since in nature dogs are joyful at the least little thing.
This beautiful Retriever Mix clearly displays gratitude at the little comfort he is offered by a stranger. I'd give anything to take him and all 500 of the dogs loaded into the trailer like so much garbage, and run away with them. We are not told in the article whether the 200 protesters were successful in preventing the butchering of these dogs. We can only hope they were rescued and somehow the Humane Society has been alerted and has been activated to take them in and feed, house, provide medical care for them.
The only thing a dog asks of us is love. They can hardly contain all the love they have to give. It is their greatest joy. Sustenance is of little import and often they are more than willing to work to attain that for themselves.
He/she may not ever have had a proper name so I'm going to give him or her a the name he or she deserves. One that evokes all the joys of any dog...that stands for a dog's best role in life....Huoban....Chinese for "Buddy".
Buddy will may never know that a woman in California...on the opposite side of the world, fell in love with him or her at first sight, but it did happen.
He or she will never feel my hugs or kisses upon their head or nose, but in my heart I would give anything to do just that. I'd love to curl up with this precious animal and give him or her lots of fresh water and food. Go for long walks and show him or her what it is to feel secure and loved without condition.
God help this sweet one and it's fellow victims. This heartbreaking practice of using one of God's greatest gifts to man is atrocious at best.
