They're curly and shaggy, fluffy or slick,
Eager to love, expressed with a lick.
Tiny or giant, their hearts beat the same,
When it comes to true love, this one's no game.
Born to assist, relieve and comply,
No truer companion you'll find in this life.
They're funny, and silly, and live to amuse,
Yet loyal like no other when sometimes you lose.
They come to our world and change everything,
Their time here so fleeting, the most precious thing.
No matter the promise of parting to come,
For a DOG, in my heart, there's forever a home.
